How to set Automatic Proxy Configuration on Mac OS X

If you are using Mac OS X, you may follow the steps below to set up your web browser (Safari, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox) to use automatic proxy configuration. For Windows systems, you may also refer to the Windows guide.

  1. Open System Preferences and click on the Network icon to open the network settings (see image below).
  2. Inside your Network Settings, click on Wi-Fi (or whichever you are using to connect to the Internet).
  3. Click on the Advanced button
  4. Inside your WiFi settings window (or any device you are currently using to connect to the Internet), click on the Proxies tab
  5. Enable Automatic Proxy Configuration by ticking on the corresponding box
  6. Type in the URL entry box (under the Proxy Configuration File) the following text: http://proxy.uap.asia:8080/wpad.dat
  7. Click OK to enable the settings.
  8. That’s it! The next time you open your web browser (e.g., Safari, Chrome, Firefox) and go to any of the online journal sites linked on the UA&P library page, a login window will pop up prompting you to sign in to the proxy server. Just type in your Off-Campus Access Account (OCAA) username and password and you're ready to go. Note: You only need to log in with your OCAA account once for every session. There is no need to sign in to JSTOR, EBSCO, etc. using the OCAA account.
  9. If you were redirected to this page from the Off-Campus Access Instruction Guide, you may return to the document and continue with the rest of the steps. You may also jump over to the page with the links to our online journals.
