Guide on the UA&P Book Rating System
Below is a description of each of the book categories based on the rating systems of UA&P and almudi.org. Both systems specify certain requirements for the profitable reading of the different types of materials.
G: Material for the General Public
These materials are commonly recommendable for general readership. A further distinction follows, which was made on the basis of the subject matter’s technical complexity and the reader’s prior knowledge. Both undergraduate and graduate libraries have materials rated G: undergraduate level materials are labelled G1 and graduate materials are marked G2.
G1: Undergraduate (“UG” formerly DELL)
Location: Lopez Library (DELL)
Audience: ordinarily used in the first- to third-year college subjects
Requirements: collegiate-level reading skills
Content & Perspectives: consistent with the academic culture of the University
G2 : Graduate (“G” formerly DEEL)
Location: Ejercito Library (DEEL)
Audience: ordinarily used for major subjects offered by the graduate schools
Requirements: prior foundational knowledge on the subject matter as well as intellectual and academic maturity
Content & Perspectives: may contain certain detectable ideas that run contrary to the Christian faith but easily detected by readers with good doctrinal formation
Note: Undergraduate students may borrow G2 materials but they have to be advised that these are ordinarily used for graduate courses and require a very good grasp of the basic principles of the subject matter, or a relatively high degree of knowledge and analytical skills.
S: Material for Specialists

Audience: for teachers and researchers/those doing research for a thesis
